An astro-navigational map of the Dominion of Storms and it’s surrounding areas as noted by the famed Rogue Trader Gritt Slamslasher and his Voidmaster, First Rank, Bone Sherpah in his travels. The map pictured is rather concise, but ultimately any individual skilled in astro-navigation should be able to use it to determine their location in the vicinity of this fell domain, hopefully hastening their escape from it.

A region far to the Galactic North East in the Ultima Segmentum, its ill repute is mostly due to the four warp disturbances that pollute the area with the taint of the Warp and make travel difficult at best, and hellish when the tides of the Empyrean flow foul. This annotated map has specific points noted in alien languages, as best transcribed by the Rogue Trader himself, as well as his own personal notes in Low Gothic.

So one of the characters in a Black Crusade campaign I have been running has become a horrific fly monster, so I decided to do an illustration of what this thing would look like.

A big, detailed, abstract background that I’ve been working on and off for the last month or so. 

A soldier from the Vorkuptian Penal Legion, note the “Iron Bands” tattoo on his arm, each stud on it denoting a kill by his own hands. The mask on his face in the second picture is a rebreather for hazardous conditions, though it can be used to inhale some varieties of stimulants (though only through non-proscribed methods). The collar around his neck is known as the “Shackle of the Omnissiah”, it is a discipline collar, tracking device, vox-comm, rebreather, and chemical injection device. It must be attached via surgical processes, and is nigh impossible to remove without extensive knowledge of how bionics attach to living systems.

A Martian Magos and loyal servant of the Omnissiah is being sued by his citizens after blowing a big chunk of the hive city’s budget on building a Kastelan class automata, Administratum reports say.

Atticus Filamentum, magos of Hive City 0110101, defended his decision but the Martian Brotherhood of Artificers and Architects is suing, alleging the funds were misspent: “The labour used for the robot’s creation, which was built for the Martian Defense project and referred to by Filamentum as his ‘prestige project,’ belongs to the inhabitants of the city. He blew our entire defense budget on a single automata instead of the proposed lasrifles and flak armour we were going to receive.” 

In response to criticisms that the construct is a “monstrosity” and a “criminal waste of resources” the magos replied only: “Admire the Automata.” 

It’s unknown exactly how much time and how many resources were spent on his metal masterpiece, but the automata stands 14-feet-tall and the Sol System’s subspace transmissions network community is quite amused by the magos’ audacity.
